I shot some test footage in Brighton using a Lensbaby Velvet 85 lens optic on my Arri Alexa Mini. The main feature of this novelty effects lens is it has a region of selective focus that falls off into a streaky blur around it. The result provides an ethereal dreamlike quality that could potentially be used for music videos, flashback scenes, memories or as a cinematographic tool to represent intoxication or POV shots.
